I have focused a great deal of my research on perceptions of the built environment, particularly in their relationship with travel behavior. This has included research focused on women’s travel and on travel psychology in general. My doctoral dissertation compared objective to perceptual assessments of the environment in relation to walking behavior. Current research focuses on aesthetics of the built environment. Since 2008, I have served on the editorial board of the Journal of Creativity, Aesthetics & the Arts.
My thoughts on the DC Metro proposed redesign were published in the Washington Post.
